Fareham & Waterlooville Labour Party Putting Fareham & Waterlooville First.
Gemma Furnivall, Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Fareham and Waterlooville, delivered a record-breaking result at the 2024 general election for the constituency.
Gemma with the help of the Fareham and Waterlooville campaign team reduced the Conservative majority from over 23,000 to just over 6,000! Fareham and Waterlooville is no longer a seat the Conservatives can take for granted.
The result comes just two months after Gemma Furnivall was elected as Borough Councillor for the Fort Fareham ward in Fareham, resulting in being the first Labour Councillor elected in Fareham in over 25 years.
Gemma ran a positive campaign focused on her as the local candidate with real-life experience. She ran on a slate of six missions she would take on if elected as the MP.
The result put Labour in a strong second place with the Liberal Democrats and Reform UK fighting out for third and fourth place. This election has put to bed the fight over who was the tactical vote to challenge the incumbent Conservative. Fareham and Waterlooville is now a battleground between Labour and the Conservatives.
Commenting after the election result, Labour Candidate, Gemma Furnivall said:
“I want to thank every single person that put their faith in me and voted for me to represent them in Parliament. I am gutted I didn’t quite make it over the line, but my hard work continues as the only Labour Councillor in Fareham.
“I am very proud of the campaign I ran with my hardworking team of volunteers, we knocked on thousands of doors and delivered tens of thousands of leaflets. This was a campaign to give people an MP they could be proud of and I am proud my campaign showed what it could look like.
“It is great to see that we are now surrounded by Labour MPs on the South Coast and now have a Labour Government, so I am positive that even without a Labour MP, Fareham and Waterlooville will realise the benefits of a Labour Government
“I wish Suella Braverman all the best and I look forward to working with her in my role as a local Councillor to hold her to account and ensure the constituency gets the best deal”
